BOSS Eddie Howe insisted Charlie Daniels had been “in a good frame of mind” having successfully undergone surgery on a serious knee injury.

The full-back was stretchered off during last month’s Premier League clash with Manchester City, having dislocated the patella in his right knee.

Daniels went under the knife on Thursday and is set to be out for the rest of the season.

Asked for an update on the former Tottenham youngster, Howe told the Daily Echo: “Charlie had his operation and the operation was a success. Now he starts the long road back to full fitness and it is going to be a long road for him.

“Thankfully, the most important step has been taken.

“I spoke to him and Charlie has been fine, he’s been good. He is in a good frame of mind and is ready to start the long road back.”

He added: “Having been there myself from a very similar operation, there are several things you have to go through which can be quite difficult mentally.

“He has got that all to do now but he is approaching it very much in the right way.”
