BOSS Eddie Howe revealed Adam Smith had this week undergone a secondary scan on a hamstring injury picked up against Leicester City before the international break.

The full-back was forced off after 64 minutes of the 3-1 defeat at King Power Stadium after sustaining the problem.

Smith, 28, had started all four of Cherries' top-flight fixtures this campaign but could be a doubt when the Dorset club host Everton on Sunday (2pm).

Quizzed on the injury to the former Tottenham youngster, Howe said: “It is a hamstring issue, he had a scan initially, which showed some damage to the hamstring.

“Then he had another one yesterday to see how that is now. We are awaiting those results.”

The Cherries boss did however reveal defender Chris Mepham should be fit to feature against the Toffees.

Wales international Mepham was withdrawn after 77 minutes of his country’s international friendly against Belarus on Monday.

“We anticipate Chris will be fine,” said Howe.
