CHERRIES midfielder Harry Arter has been included in Martin O'Neill’s provisional Republic of Ireland squad to face Turkey in a friendly later this month.

The midfielder was part of the Ireland side which fell agonisingly short of a World Cup spot having lost to Denmark in a play-off in November.

Arter has not featured in Cherries’ past seven league games, his latest first-team appearance coming in the 3-0 FA Cup third-round replay defeat at Wigan in January.

The Boys in Green make the trip to New Antalya Stadium on Friday, March 23.

Meanwhile, defender Nathan Ake has been named in Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman’s first squad for friendlies against England and Portugal.

The former Feyenoord youngster is part of a 33-man preliminary group, of which seven players have been called up for the first time.

A £20million summer signing from Chelsea, Ake has been a star performer for Cherries in the Premier League this season, featuring in all 29 top-flight fixtures.

He represented his country through the age groups and won the first of his five senior caps against Morocco in May under Dick Advocaat.

Former Southampton and Everton boss Koeman was appointed last month after the Netherlands failed to qualify for Russia 2018.

The Dutch host England in Amsterdam on Friday, March 23, before taking on Portugal in Geneva three days later.
