CHAMPIONSHIP rival boss Jason Bowers has warned Bournemouth that his Chinnor players will arrive in Dorset in bullish mood.

The National Three South West title frontrunners lock horns at Chapel Gate in a potential winner-takes-all showdown this afternoon (3pm).

A victory would put Lions in the driving seat to claim promotion to National Two – which would be the highest level in the club’s history.

But if Chinnor were to win, they would be in pole position to move into the fourth tier of English rugby.

Bowers, head coach of the Oxfordshire outfit, told the Oxford Mail: “We’ll approach the game as if we are going to win the league.

“It has been the most amazing journey so far this season.

“Losing against Barnstaple was a shock, but the run had to end at some point.

“Barnstaple deserved their win, but there is no better time than today to start a new winning run.

“We will go there full of confidence. We have won 20 games this season and beaten Bournemouth at home.

“I am sure they will be preparing their troops for a tough game just as I am.”

Bowers added: “No one enjoyed the feeling after Barnstaple.

“We don’t want to come in and feel like that again.”

Bowers has named the same 18-man matchday squad that lost 22-19 to Barnstaple last time out, although he expects to hold some late fitness tests.
