BOSS Steve Evans revealed Crawley Town old boys Matt Tubbs and Steve Fletcher gave Warren Cummings the big sell on their former club.

Cummings yesterday joined the Red Devils on a one-month loan deal, as revealed exclusively on the Echo website, and could make his debut against Torquay United at the Broadfield Stadium today.

The 31-year-old linked up with Evans’s League Two high-fliers having fallen down the pecking order at Seward Stadium following the arrival of Charlie Daniels.

And having made just two appearances for Lee Bradbury’s side since November, Cummings has opted to seek game-time away from Dorset and will remain in Sussex until March 31.

Crawley boss Steve Evans told his club’s website: “Warren wanted to sign for us in preference to a few others and that was very important to me.

“Matt Tubbs and Steve Fletcher both told him he should join us instead of the other clubs who were trying to get him on board so I am grateful to both our former players for speaking so highly about us.

“Warren is a natural defender, has good pace and will fit perfectly with our style of play. He also likes to get high up the pitch and help the team create chances, while his delivery is superb. Warren can play left-back or left midfield and he really is a good addition to our squad.”

Scotsman Cummings, a veteran of Cherries’ 2003 Millennium Stadium play-off final win, is out of contract in the summer and is the third member of Bradbury’s squad to go out on loan since January, with Lyle Taylor (Hereford) and Michael Symes (Rochdale) also enjoying spells at other clubs.
