MANAGER Simon Browne has urged his wounded Hamworthy United troops: Show me the right response.

Browne is calling for a positive reaction when Hammers bid to emerge from their poor run of form at Horndean tonight (7.45pm).

Premier Division leaders at one stage earlier in the season, Browne’s men have slipped to eighth position after winning just once in their past nine Wessex League matches.

The County Ground outfit’s slump was highlighted by their two most recent defeats – a 7-0 home hammering against Fareham and a 4-0 away defeat at the hands of Moneyfields.

But Browne believes a trip to lowly Horndean represents a chance to turn the tide.

He told the Daily Echo: “We have not been on the best of runs, which was only highlighted by our last game.

“It is an opportunity for the players to show me that they are not as bad as the results have been.

“I am looking forward to getting out there and watching the reaction from the players.

“They have all said they are committed to the club and that they want to get us out of the mire, and tonight is an opportunity for them to show it.

“Horndean away on a cold Tuesday night in February is the time when you find out a bit about your players. I hope to get the right answers.”

Defender Sam Lockyer is unavailable for Hammers.
