WESSEX ABC star Stuart Thomas upstaged West Ham boxer Boston Reid on his home turf to book a place in the Senior Novice Championships semi-finals.
Thomas beat the elder brother of England prospect Lucian Reid with an emphatic points verdict in the three-bout contest.
The Western Counties fighter won every round with effective counter-punch combinations and long-range uppercuts.
Thomas won 15-5 and is now rated one of the best 60-70kg boxers in the country. His semi-final is on Sunday at The Elmbridge in Essex.
Fellow Boscombe-based club-mate Nick Reeves, meanwhile, won a heavyweight rematch with Leigh Park’s Alan Gough at the Carrington Hotel.
It was sweet revenge for Reeves who lost a controversial bout with Gough at the Wessex ABC’s show at the Seward Stadium earlier this month.
