BOSS Lee Bradbury finalised the signing of Steven Gregory and then tipped the midfielder to thrive at Dean Court by playing the Cherries way.

Bradbury insisted his new recruit had the potential to become a key man after he joined the League One outfit earlier today.

Chairman Eddie Mitchell this morning revealed to the Daily Echo that an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £55,000, had been agreed with AFC Wimbledon.

Gregory then passed a medical at Dean Court and agreed personal terms before putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.

Discussing his 24-year-old new recruit, Cherries manager Bradbury told the Daily Echo: "He played a big part in the promotion at AFC Wimbledon last season. They were really disappointed to lose him.

"But it is the same as we have experienced - when teams from above come in for your players, it is always hard to keep the lads.

"They have had to let him go and we will benefit from it. I think if we do a bit of work with him, he will turn into a great player.

"I am excited to have him joining the squad and to see him playing in the Bournemouth colours. I think he is a Bournemouth player in the way he plays his football. He is tidy on the ball and athletic."

Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic are understood to have revived their interest in Cherries' wantaway left-back Rhoys Wiggins.

Mitchell today confirmed that Cherries had agreed a fee for the defender with Watford.

But the Addicks could be set to hijack the deal, having previously failed with two offers for Wiggins earlier this summer.
