SCOTT Joyce admits his long awaited comeback from injury pales into insignificance after Kev James fractured his tibia and fibula during Wimborne’s 1-0 win at Bishops Cleeve.

The classy Magpies winger sustained the injury following a collision with Bishops goalkeeper Tom King, who was sent off.

Lee Chudy converted the resultant second-half penalty, but only after the game had been held up for more than an hour before James could be taken to hospital.

Joyce, sidelined all season with a heel injury, is in line to make his Zamaretto One South & West debut for Wimborne at home to Thatcham tomorrow (3pm).

But the experienced striker last night said: “I haven’t really been thinking about myself. I’ve been thinking about Kev all day.

“With my injury, it was not too bad but he is messed up pretty badly with his broken leg.

“I’m just so gutted for him and wish him a full recovery.

“All our wishes from Wimborne Town Football Club go out to his family and we hope he can come back as soon as possible.

“You don’t wish that type of injury on any player and I’m gutted I’m not going to be playing with him because he is a good player and friend.”

Joyce looks set to start on the bench, while Andy Culliford, who missed the Bishops clash, also returns to Magpies’ squad.

Andy Masson, plucked from local football this week, could also feature.
