CHAIRMAN Eddie Mitchell is offering supporters FREE coach travel to Cherries’ rearranged League One clash with Bristol Rovers.

Mitchell has made the gesture after numerous fans were left frustrated following the late postponement of Tuesday’s scheduled match at the Memorial Stadium.

Referee Graham Salisbury deemed the pitch unplayable due to waterlogging, his controversial decision coming around 90 minutes before kick-off.

Hundreds of Cherries supporters had either already arrived at the ground or were on route to Bristol when news of the postponement filtered through.

Although a new date for the match is still to be agreed between the two clubs, Mitchell says Cherries’ offer of free coach travel will be open to all fans.

A good number of the club’s followers took advantage of Mitchell’s generosity following the 11th-hour postponement of Cherries’ FA Cup second round tie at Notts County.

Mitchell told the Daily Echo: “I didn’t get to see the pitch so am not in a position to pass comment on it. I do know, however, that it was a fair distance to go to have to just turn around and come straight back. I am sure a lot of our supporters had taken time off work to get there “It was disappointing for our supporters to have the game called off so late, particularly as it was the second time this season that it had happened.

“We want as many fans as possible to make the return trip. Those that travelled deserve a free return trip and we would like to extend this to other supporters as well.”
