Poole Town have snapped up Wimborne utility man Tom McCormick on dual registration.

And Dolphins boss Tom Killick says the move could become permanent early next year.

McCormick will probably go straight into the Tatnam Farm outfit’s team for their home Sydenhams League Cup second round clash against Fareham tonight (7.45pm).

Killick said: “Tom (McCormick) is not necessarily finishing with Wimborne. It’s a temporary thing. He’s a self-employed flooring specialist and has a lot of work on at the moment.

“It suits him for now to be playing a bit more locally because he’s been travelling a lot further in the Southern League.”

Killick, who has also signed ex-Cherries utility man Marcus Browning and former Saints defender Phil Warner in the past few days, added: “Tom (McCormick) will give it a go with us until January and then the situation will be reviewed.

“He hasn't left Wimborne completely. The idea is he will play for us for the next two months, then we'll see how Wimborne are fixed and also what Tom (McCormick) wants to do.

“Tom is an experienced left back. Over the years, he has proven he's one of the best players around in that position.

“With us being without injured Will Spetch for at least six weeks and Jake Smeeton going back to Dorchester Town, we really did need an orthodox left back and Tom can fulfil that role.”

Tonight’s winners are away to Lymington Town on December 7.
