ARTUR Mroczka will sit out two individual meetings to rest in a bid to rediscover his top form for Pirates.

The young Pole misfired in the Elite League play-off final first leg at Coventry where he disappointingly scored just one point in Poole’s 51-39 reverse.

But he’s absolutely determined to make up for one of his worst displays for the Dorset club by helping them overturn that 12-point deficit in the return at Wimborne Road on Monday.

Mroczka’s manager, Maciej Simionkowski, said: “Artur will not be taking part in two open meetings he was planning to do in Germany on Saturday and in Poland on Sunday.

“He’s been suffering from a bad cold that has hung around for a few weeks but needs to be at his best in the second leg against Coventry so we’re pulling him out of those meetings to rest.”

Mroczka got two for Lejonen in Sweden on Tuesday, and Simionkowski added: “He’s been feeling a little bit tired so it’s important for him to have a break so he can freshen up.

“He needs to be sharp against Bees and I’m sure he will be if he has a short rest.

“The track was really difficult at Coventry as people who weren’t there could see by the TV coverage.

“It wasn’t only Artur who struggled. Other riders who have far more experience had problems as well.

“I know he’s not the same Artur from the beginning of the season, but it’s his first season in Britain, he’s still learning and you can’t be good all the time.”

Mroczka’s miserable one-point Brandon display was his joint second lowest in 37 Pirates appearances since his debut last October.

The lowest was when he got nought in a 53-42 league reverse at Coventry on September 9, although he plundered eight paid 11 on the same track in April when Poole triumphed 54-39.

On Monday, the Pole will be aiming to repeat his spectacular 11 paid 13 performance during Pirates’ 63-29 home demolition of Bees in April.

He missed the Dorset club’s 58-35 B fixture home pounding of Coventry in June.

Simionkowski said: “Monday’s meeting is Poole’s most important of the season and Artur’s determined to help them lift the title. He’ll be delighted if he can get seven or eight and Poole win on aggregate.”
