Charter boats heading out from Poole continue to sample some excellent summer action, with Taylor Anderson and Kevin Justice both recording excellent catches while fishing on separate trips aboard ‘Silver Spray’, skippered by Andy and Sam Cummings.

Fishing over marks off the Purbecks, Anderson heaved a 10-9 bass over the gunnels while Justice recorded a 22-5 blonde ray. Fresh mackerel was the successful bait for both fish.

The Poole charter fleet also has a new addition with Paul Smith the owner/skipper taking delivery of ‘Rapid Fisher’, a very fast and stable cat that has lots of fishing space. He can be contacted on 07836 717055.

<•>The action was pretty good during the Lymington & District summer open shore competition held in two zones around the Lymington & Pennington Sea Wall, which doubled up as the Angling Trust Wessex Region Marine junior and senior champion of champion shore finals.

The junior champion of champions section was won by Callum Graham (Christchurch & District FC) with 3-14.

John Brown, from Southampton SAC, bagged six fish, together weighing 24-4, to win both the open competitions.

The pairs section was won by Andrew and Michael Dawkins with 10-12.

<•>England international Darren Phillips won the Rover Tackle catch-and-release midweek pegged open match at Clarence Sea Wall with six fish measuring 183cm.
