CHRISTCHURCH and New Milton Seagulls have appointed Adam Parfitt as their new assistant coach.

He joins Seagulls from his childhood club Street and District in Somerset, where he has had a voluntary role running the age group development squad under head coach Zoe Baker, a former world record holder and 2002 Commonwealth champion in the 50m breaststroke.

Parfitt, 23, has also swum and coached with national champions Plymouth Leander, where he graduated in coaching and PE at the university.

Seagulls’ head coach Barry Alldrick said: “I’m delighted to welcome Adam to our coaching team.

“The addition of a full-time assistant will enhance the coaching experience and lead our swimmers to even higher levels of achievement,” he added.
