EX-Cherries midfielder Sammy Igoe has joined Havant and Waterlooville, the Conference South club has confirmed.

Igoe has signed a one-year deal, with an option of a further season, after being released by Eddie Howe this summer.

The experienced playmaker was snapped up by Kevin Bond two years ago and went on to help Cherries avoid relegation and then seal promotion back into League One.

But he was not named on Howe’s retained list and has opted to link up with the Hawks.

Igoe, who is reported to have rejected an offer from Conference big guns Luton Town to remain local, started his career with Portsmouth.

He went on to make more than 450 league appearances and, in his two seasons at Dean Court, netted five goals.
