MARATHON man Graham Butson won two epic play-offs on his way to securing the Dorset Seniors Championship at Broadstone.

The home favourite came from dormy three down in the quarter-final to beat Meyrick Park’s Dave Barton at the first extra hole with a birdie.

And the Broadstone veteran clinched his place in the final by toppling Dorset Golf and Country Club’s Steve Lewis on the 19th.

An exhausted Butson lined up against Parkstone’s Colin Short in the final and raced into a four-hole lead before sealing a 2 and 1 victory with a par at the 17th.

Knighton Heath’s Bob Dilkes won the 18 hole strokeplay qualifier with a 75, one shot ahead of Barton and Lewis.

<•>Broadstone’s Billy Joe Bugden won the Under-16 Championship at Came Down with rounds of 72 and 77.

The County Boys Championship was won by Weymouth’s Tom Robson with rounds of 66 and 73. He finished four shots ahead of club-mate Robert Mabb.
