ARTUR Mroczka admits fears about his Pirates future played a big part in his costly world under-21 semi-final mishap.

The Pole stopped after only three of the regulation four laps in his last race at Landshut and his "human error" denied him two precious points.

Mroczka ended up missing out on a place in the junior world championship final by one point.

His manager, Maciej Simionkowski, said: "He thought the race was finished, but it wasn't.

"He shut off the gas. When he realised it wasn't finished it was too late.

"After Artur crashed at Poole on June 9 things haven't gone well for him.

"He crashed in the Torun GP and the next day in Poland. His situation was really strange.

"Artur's very confused and last week was very stressful for him.

"He's had a few problems with his Polish club because they don't want to give him permission to ride in England.

"They want him to stay at Grudziadz and only race and practice for them."

Simionkowski added: "It's the first time Artur has stopped after three laps. I don't know, and Artur doesn't know why it happened.

"After the meeting, he was really confused and very angry. He couldn't sleep that night, but life goes on. We have to forget about it and think about the future.

"We'll try and get a wild card into the three-round final and will speak to people at the PZM (Poland's speedway governing body) and FIM (world speedway's governing body) and see how we get on."

Ex-Australia boss Neil Street recognised Mroczka suffered genuine bad luck and hoped the Poles would still give him a place in the final anyway.

Simionkowski said: "It's nice of Neil to say that and we're thinking the same.

"For Artur, it's his last year at under-21. A lot of the other guys have more attempts.

"It's his last chance to show he's really good and can be on top in the final.

"Sure, he had bad luck on Saturday, but we still hope he'll get a chance in the final.

"If not, we'll have to forget about it and try to get another title, Polish under-21 champion or be the best rider in Poland's junior world cup team.

"The world under-21 title is still the aim but if we don't get a wild card we'll go forward.

"Artur's still feeling his ankle and shoulder despite getting an 11 paid 12 maximum for Grudziadz on Sunday, but with his other problems to think about, he forgets about it.

"At the moment, he's thinking only about his problems with his Polish club. His injuries are still painful, but not too much like before.

"I said to our Swedish promoter he needs a week's calm. He understands me, so Artur will have a break tonight.

"His next meeting will probably be at Poole tomorrow."
