BJARNE Pedersen believes being in a winning Pirates team is more important than becoming Poole’s second all-time top points scorer.

The Dane goes into their home clash against Belle Vue tonight (7.30pm) aiming for his seventh double figure score in eight meetings.

If he continues in that rich vein of form, Pedersen will almost certainly jump above Poole legends Steve Schofield and Pete Smith this season in the list of leading points scorers.

Having piled up 150 points, including bonuses, from 15 appearances already this term, Pirates’ former skipper has completely turned around his stuttering form of last year.

Indeed, he has increased his all-time tally for the club to 3,248½ since leaving Newcastle in 2002.

Now he only needs 179 to leapfrog Schofield (3,349½) and Smith (3,427½) into second this term, according to Poole’s club website.

However, Pedersen said in a centre green interview: “I’m pleased every time I move up “But the most important thing is I’m scoring high points for my club and we win.”

Artur Mroczka, a reserve for the Grand Prix at Torun on June 19, steps into the main body of Poole’s team tonight, with Jason Doyle dropping down.

Aces use guest Craig Watson for injured William Lawson, and have asked the BSPA for a facility to cover for Tobias Kroner, who has quit the club.

Pirates (new averages in brackets): Holder (8.91), Watt (8.30), Pedersen (8.12), Mroczka (7.23), Ward (6.37), Madsen (6.22), Doyle (5.51).

Belle Vue: Andersen, Karlsson, Wright, Hougaard, Watson (guest), Lanham (3.58), R/r or guest for Kroner.
