BACK row Hayden Hokianga offered no complaints after Oakmeadians were beaten 24-13 at Cheltenham.

The Meyrick Parkers lost their second South West One East game in a row after leading 8-7 at half-time.

Hokianga, who saw Eroni Ciriki and Harvey Bell score tries and Jamie Tryska slot over a penalty, said: “Cheltenham were a very good team, very strong.

“We played really, really well but were just beaten by the better team on the day.

“They are by far the strongest team we’ve played this season and it’s a hard place to go and win.”

Oaks: Smith, Stephenson (Henrickson, 60), Avizion, W Croker, Hudson, Flower (McMahon, 70), Richards, Hokianga, Bell, Tryska, Notobartolo, Samuels, Ciriki, McTaggart, Daniel. Unused sub: Mitchell. • Swanage and Wareham’s season of turmoil hit a new low as they were beaten 24-17 by relegation rivals Trowbridge.

Robert Elford’s charges have now lost five of their eight South West One East encounters, with only woeful Wootton Bassett, yet to score a single point, propping up the Bestwall boys in the standings.

Elford’s early try, converted by Phil Graves, got Swans off to a flyer in Wiltshire, but the hosts were soon back in the game with a try of their own midway through the opening period.

Full-back Alex Hill put the home side in front just after the break, before Graves’s penalty levelled matters.

And although Jody Acheson’s converted touch down made it 17-10 after 55 minutes, Graves then added the extras to his own try to once again restore parity.

But with five minutes remaining, however, Hill scored under the posts to leave Swans reeling.

Swans: D Elford, Wilcox, P Graves, M Cottrell, Blackmore, Brett, Tomes, Frampton (Woodard, 62), R Elford, O Andrews (Sheldrake, 62), Burgess, Corsie, Ford, Wright, Jacobs. Unused sub: Marshall.

• Ellingham and Ringwood continue to set the pace at the summit of London Three South West after an easy 22-5 win over Old Allyanians.

Rich Major’s penalty settled the early exchanges, before tries from Adam Fityan, James Bouvett and James Walton put the points beyond doubt.

Wimborne’s Southern Counties Cup clash against Witney was postponed, but the Leigh Park second team took a major scalp by downing Chippenham 16-5 in the Dorset & Wilts 2nd XV Cup.
