NEIL Middleditch has labelled Pirates trialists Artur Mroczka and Matej Kus as “crowd pleasers” who would both be good additions at Poole next season.

The Elite League club’s team manager also had words of encouragement for Dawid Lampart, who also rode for the side in end-of-term challenges against Ipswich and Eastbourne.

Mroczka was the pick of the three guests Pirates chief Matt Ford was looking at with his 2010 line-up in mind.

The Pole, who helped his country lift this year’s World Under-21 Team Cup, sparkled as he won two races and piled up paid 10 and eight in home clashes against Eagles and Witches.

But Mroczka also impressed away, making light of his first visits to Foxhall and the notoriously tight Arlington track to bag five and six, respectively.

Kus, a Czech Republic international who made his Grand Prix bow as a wild card this year, impressed with paid eight and four in Poole’s home matches, although he struggled at Ipswich for paid three.

Looking back on Mroczka and Kus’s run-outs for Pirates, Middleditch said: “They did very well and I think they would both be good additions to Poole.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t see the best of Dawid because he had bike problems and you can’t just jump on someone else’s equipment and look good.”

Asked if he felt Mroczka and Kus had put themselves in the running for 2010 Poole berths if the club decide to remain in the top flight, Middleditch said: “They are two riders that would certainly come into our plans.

“After next month’s BSPA annual meeting, we’ll know more.”
