Verwood Town go into tomorrow’s Vase trip to Wells City (3pm) on the back of an impressive 3-2 Wessex Cup win over Romsey Town on Wednesday night.

Dan Baguley’s double and an Adam Faulkner strike saw off the Premier Division outfit and booked Adie Arnold’s men a tie against Brockenhurst in the next round.

Arnold, though, will have to do without Baguley tomorrow, who is unavailable, while Jason Lovell misses out through injury.

Arnold said: “We’re going there a little bit blind in terms of what we know about them, but we had a good win on Wednesday night.

“We were great on Wednesday and should have won by more.”

Talisman Mark Smith is a doubt for Christchurch’s Wessex Premier Division clash at home to Newport (IOW) tomorrow (3pm).

Smith (dead leg) and striker Tom Jeffes (broken nose) were both casualties of Priory’s bruising Wessex Cup penalty shoot-out victory over Downton on Tuesday night.

Boss Graham Kemp said: “We’ve had six wins and a draw from our past seven games, so we’re confident at the moment.

“I thought Newport were a good side last season and they finished one place above us in the league. They’ve beaten us already this year, but we were in the middle of a bad run. We’ll be hoping to put that right tomorrow.”
