Poole Town have recently announced the signing of striker Ben Seymour from Taunton Town for an undisclosed record transfer fee.

The Dolphins currently sit fourth in the Southern League Premier South and have strengthened their attacking force with the signing of a new 27-year-old forward, breaking the club's record transfer fee.

Ben Seymour started his career within the academy of Exeter City after joining their youth setup at the age of eight.

In 2017, he signed his first professional contract with the club, before having loan spells with Weston-Super-Mare, Bideford, Gloucester City, Dorchester Town and Yeovil Town.

He made his professional debut for Exeter in 2019 against Coventry City in the EFL Cup and scored his first goal for the Grecians in 2020 against Swindon Town.

Seymour went on to make 50 appearances for Exeter before being released in 2022.

He was picked up by Southern League Premier South outfit Plymouth Parkway and recorded 20 goals in 37 appearances, before earning a move to National League South side Hampton & Richmond, where he scored 14 goals in 41 appearances.

Seymour then moved to Torquay United for the 2024/25 season, before going out on loan to Bath City, AFC Totton and then Taunton Town, a move which was later made permanent.

So far this season, Seymour has found the back of the net six times and has now signed for the Dolphins for an undisclosed record transfer fee.

Manager Josh Staunton said: “It's fantastic to bring in a proven player of his quality and I have no doubt he will hit the ground running here and become a key part of our future on-field plans for the club.”

He added: “Ben is also someone that I know well having played with him previously at Yeovil and I truly think we can get the best out of him with the squad that we've got here.”

Vice-chairman Andy Rossiter said: “He's a top, top striker who brings real quality and a huge amount to our squad; we are thrilled to have got this deal over the line, and we cannot wait to see him in a Poole Town shirt.”
