Former Weymouth chairman Paul Maitland has made another move in Dorset non-league football after joining Poole Town as the club's new technical lead.
Maitland, who more recently served as director of football at Shaftesbury, has joined the Dolphins in a role which will see him lead the club's scouting operation and play a key part in player recruitment.
Poole say the experienced non-league operator will work closely with vice-chairman Andy Rossiter, the board and management team as the club looks to achieve its short and long-term ambitions.
The appointment represents the latest chapter in Maitland's lengthy career in Dorset football.
He resigned as Weymouth chairman in August 2025 following more than a decade of involvement with the Terras, during which he also served as director of football, vice-chairman and CEO and had spells in the dugout as assistant and interim manager.
Just over a month later, he made a surprise return to the game as Shaftesbury's director of football. At the time, Rockies chairman Steve Coffen highlighted Maitland's role in helping Weymouth climb from the Southern Premier to the National League.
In a statement, Poole Town said: "Paul’s role is to help the club achieve both its short and long-term goals.
"Working closely with Vice-Chairman Andy Rossiter, along with the Board of Directors and the management team; he will lead the club’s scouting process and will play a key role in identifying and recruiting players who will strengthen the squad and add real quality to the group already in place.
"With a wealth of experience in non-league football, including his time as CEO of Weymouth FC, Paul brings a strong network, a keen eye for talent and a deep understanding of what it takes to compete at this level and leagues above. He will be a valuable addition to our already excellent off-the-pitch team."
On joining Poole, Maitland said: “Having met with Andy and Chris, I’m really looking forward to helping the club achieve its goals, and the future looks full of promise.
“At this moment, supporting Josh and building on the foundations already in place is key, and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
