DJORDJE Petrovic "will win games" for the Cherries as Marco Rose threw his support behind his number one after a mistake from the Serbian saw Brentford equalise in the 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth were on top against their visitors and had just taken the lead through Marcus Tavernier seven minutes after half-time.

But, when Petrovic received a pass back from James Hill, he sought to pick out Adam Smith with a pass but instead played the ball straight to Kevin Schade, who chipped the Serbian with a first-time finish to make it 2-2.

That was how the game finished as the Cherries weren't able to convert any of their further chances and they again dropped points from a winning position in the Premier League.

Boss Rose is not concerned by Petrovic's error.

"He's going to win games for us and he did it already, so this is part of football for me, believe me," Rose said.

"So of course, Petro knows that the decision maybe was [poor], but he has to do it in one, two, three, four seconds, but I'm never going to blame a player of mine.

"For me, it's not about mistakes, for me it's about the reaction to mistakes.

"He needs to stay confident. We have two, with Frase [Fraser Forster], three top goalkeepers.

"We have big competition, but Petro is our number one in the Premier League and European League, and I think he already proved that he's a good number one."
