THE build up to Ryan Christie’s hat-trick on Tuesday night vs Lincoln in the League Cup was not as smooth as he might have liked, after he was left with a broken thumb – inflicted by his three-year-old son!
But boss Marco Rose said he would invite any young child to do “some stupid things with their dad”, if it means they will score a hat-trick in their next game.
Rose said: “It's quite funny because every day you try to say hello to Ryan, it's different!

“But yeah, it's what it is. If you have kids, you know it's always possible to get injured.
“They have always something in their minds. But if you get to a point that everyone scores three goals, then I invite every kid at home to some stupid things with their dad!”

The German praised Christie for his commitment to the team after he made his first start of the season vs Lincoln.
“It's his attitude, it's his effort, the way he works on the pitch out of possession, in possession,” Rose said, when asked about the Scot.
“He'd like to have every ball, the way he switched the play in the game on Tuesday, the way he played passes, he increased the speed of our game, he set the speed of our game if we maybe need some rest or something like this, he's just a good baller with a good mentality.”
Christie’s strong performance, alongside a good showing from midfield partner Lewis Cook, gives Rose some decisions to make in the centre of the pitch.

Tyler Adams and Alex Scott were excellent in the league last weekend at Newcastle, so will likely start again today against Brentford, but Cook and Christie proved their level to the boss to give him something to think about.
Asked about that selection headache, Rose said: “Oh, there's no headache at all because I'm really, really happy about the situation I have, that I have 21 competitive players and we still miss some players for long-term injuries.
“But it's very important for us now, right now, if we start to play every three days, to have a competitive squad.
“That's what we showed in the cup game and in the games before and now it's up to me to bring the right players in the right moment to handle the load and to make good decisions.”
