Swanage Cricket Club's 2ndXI played host to Ashmore looking to keep their Division 3 promotion 'bid' alive.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first on a beautiful, batting wicket.

The visitors got off to a flying-start, but were 'pegged' back by the hosts varied bowling attack of Josh (G), Alan Marks, Danny (N), Alfred (R) & Lewis (W)-who all bowled brilliantly, taking wickets at regular intervals to help restrict the visitors to 223-5 off their 40 overs.

The hosts' response was as equally fluent as the visitors-with a sensational 110-run opening partnership between John Lewis & Josh (G).

Until Lewis was dismissed in the 16th over for a run-a-ball 51-which included seven boundaries.

Despite this, Josh continued to bat positively until he was unluckily dismissed attempting his 12th boundary for a serene 77 with the score on 144.

Although, the hosts lost another quick wicket, they were guided to a crucial six-wicket victory with two overs to spare by an exceptional, unbroken stand between Paul Norman and Chris Backhouse-who scored  38 & 29 respectively.

This makes it an incredible haul of 77 points out of 80 from their last four games.

As well as that, despite a majestic half-century from Ben Allatt and (another) three wicket-haul from Coby Perry-who is one of the leading wicket-takers in Premier Division 2, the 1stXI suffered a crushing six-wicket defeat at Weymouth.
