THE Swanage 1st XI travelled to Marnhull seeking a second successive victory and immediately put the hosts under pressure thanks to a sensational opening spell from Australian seamer Coby Perry.
He was virtually unplayable, reducing Marnhull to 24–4, including two wickets in the first over.
Although the hosts recovered to 113–5, their lower order was swept aside by Perry—who claimed his second five‑wicket haul of the season—and by the swing bowling of Steve Ramsay, who added three wickets.
Marnhull were dismissed for 123.
Swanage’s reply began poorly with two early wickets lost, but a superb 90‑run partnership between Dan Salmon and Tom Wells took the visitors to the brink of victory.
Salmon made a dazzling run‑a‑ball 46, while Wells completed his third half‑century of the season (54) to secure a convincing seven‑wicket win.
The 2nd XI hosted promotion rivals Cattistock, who started strongly at 36–0 before Swanage’s seamers turned the game.
Harry Long and Jernimain bowled hostile spells to reduce the visitors to 72–5, taking three and two wickets respectively.
After a brief recovery, Cattistock collapsed from 109–6 to 128 all out, largely due to a superb off‑spin spell from Andrew Hancock, who claimed three wickets.
In reply, Swanage overcame two early setbacks through a 66‑run stand between Chris Backhouse (42) and Max Nicholson (34).
Their dismissals did not prevent Sam Marks from guiding the side to a comfortable five‑wicket victory.
The 3rd XI also produced notable moments, with Josh Gould striking his maiden century—an impressive 104 featuring 15 boundaries.
Supported by Tim Ives with a half‑century, Swanage posted 273–5.
Visitors Verwood chased well to win by five wickets despite determined efforts from Swanage’s bowlers - Bradley, Danny & Josh (V-S) in particular.
