Purbeck Power Gym boxers faced off at Dorchester Prison

The evening started with Deniz Demir, a 17-year-old from Swanage, who demonstrated superior training and resolve.

In a display of boxing skill, Demir seized control of his fight in the first round, which ultimately ended with the referee halting the bout in the second round as he escalated his attack on his opponent.

Next in the ring was Max Holmes, 18, also from Swanage.

He faced his opponent head-on, but the contest ended prematurely as Holmes suffered a dislocated shoulder roughly 30 seconds into the match.

The referee, proficient in handling such injuries, quickly relocated it, but Holmes was unable to continue, making it a no contest.

The third contestant from Purbeck Power Gym was Jack Buchanan, 21, again from Swanage.

Buchanan, despite facing a robust and hard-hitting opponent, expertly identified his rival's weak points and capitalised on them in the second round.

With a lack of mobility and footwork, the opponent became easier to hit, leading to the referee bringing the fight to a stop.

The finale saw Ryan Dwyer, 22, from Harmans Cross, take on the seasoned Joe Eason, reputed for his toughness and for never having been knocked down in a boxing ring.

Dwyer spent the first round scrutinising his opponent's movements, then launched into a volley of punches in the second round, knocking Eason to the ground.

Despite his valiant attempts, Eason was knocked down again and counted out by the referee due to Dwyer's powerful boxing techniques.

An impressed Eason later commented that he had "never been hit so hard in his life".

The progress in Dwyer's skills has been so rapid in recent months, it poses a daunting challenge for his competitors.
