FORMER Cherries boss Harry Redknapp labelled Dominic Solanke as the “star man” across the Premier League last weekend.
The striker scored twice as Cherries defeated Newcastle United 2-0 at Vitality Stadium.
And Solanke’s performance against the Magpies earned him a spot in Redknapp’s regular team of the week feature, which he selects as part of his role as ambassador for BetVictor.
Explaining his decision, Redknapp said: “What a win that was for Bournemouth and what a performance from big Dominic Solanke up top, he’s my star man this weekend.
“Nick Pope was looking unbeatable so to get a couple of goals was impressive.
“What I like about this lad is that he never stops running, he works his socks off for his side.
“He was someone who was so highly rated when he was a young player and it looks like he’s beginning to put it all together.”
Solanke also made the cut in Alan Shearer’s team of the week for the Premier League website, and Garth Crooks for the BBC, who said: “What fabulous improvisation from Solanke for his second goal.”
The 26-year-old, formerly of Liverpool, has now already equalled his best-ever tally of six goals in a top-flight season, with 26 matches still to play.
