DANNY Ford believes Pirates have created “good momentum” heading into their SGB Championship final against Glasgow Tigers.
Poole are unbeaten in 12 meetings, their last defeat coming at Ashfield back in July.
The first leg takes place in Scotland on Sunday (6pm), before Pirates hope to lift the league trophy for a third successive year on Wednesday night, at Wimborne Road (7.30pm).
Looking ahead to the two-legged tie, promoter Ford told the Daily Echo: “We certainly have some good momentum.
“We’ve travelled really well this season, I think even better than our home form has been to be honest.
“We feel wherever we go we can keep the result close away from home and do the business at home.”
Pirates secured their spot in the final with a meeting to spare in the play-off group.
But it was far from all plain sailing. Having been held to a home draw by Scunthorpe Scorpions, Pirates knew anything other than victory at the Eddie Wright Raceway would likely see their hopes dashed.
They were instantly on the back foot when Anders Rowe crashed out in heat one and was ruled out of the meeting. But six-man Pirates produced a thrilling 50-40 win, before following that up with a comfortable 55-35 home victory over Edinburgh Monarchs.
Asked how proud he was of the team to get into the final with a meeting to spare, Ford said: “It didn’t look that way after our first fixture. But that win at Scunthorpe had a heavy influence on the rest of the group, to be honest.
“We just knew we needed to go into that fixture (against Edinburgh) and have no banana skins, no complacency and the boys put in a professional performance, to be honest.
“Everyone scored good points. Hopefully we’ve got those gremlins out the way now and we have two big fixtures coming up.”
Gary Havelock is set to team manage full-strength Pirates in Glasgow, Tigers operating rider replacement for the injured Claus Vissing.
Pirates: Lawson, Rowe, B Cook, Z Cook, Worrall, Newman, Thompson.
Glasgow: Harris, Brennan, Basso, rider replacement, Tarasenko, Complin, Pijper.
