CHERRIES midfielder Emiliano Marcondes has been praised by loan club FC Nordsjaelland for “setting new standards” during his stint with the Danish club.

Having played just eight minutes in the Premier League in the first half of the campaign, Marcondes was sent out on loan to his former club Nordsjaelland.

A foot injury whilst back in Denmark further limited the 28-year-old’s game time, playing 11 times and scoring four goals.

Marcondes started his career with Nordsjaelland, playing over 100 times in his first spell.

Nordsjaelland sporting director Jan Laursen lauded the departing Marcondes, sharing: “Emiliano has helped set new standards for what can be done at FC Nordsjælland by coming home to us from a Premier League club.

“A huge thank you must be given for what he has managed to contribute, which was important as long as he could play.

“Both he and we are incredibly sorry that he couldn't live out his stay to the full due to his injury, but he has given a lot off the pitch anyway.

“Hopefully it has also opened the door for other players who can see that you can return to FC Nordsjælland and play some fantastic matches and be part of a fantastic team and a fantastic club with fantastic fans.

“So big thanks to Emiliano. It's great to see him playing with so much heart - and we hope to see him again in the red shirt one day.”
