THE PREMIER League season ended less than seven days ago but Cherries fans are already looking forward to the upcoming campaign.

It will be Cherries’ seventh season in the top-flight, with supporters hoping their side can build on their 16th placed finish next year.

Here are some key dates and details for the upcoming season that have already been announced.

Transfer window

Domestic clubs can offer pre-contracts to England-based players two weeks from the end of the season, with teams also having two weeks after the campaign finishes to name their retained list for the year ahead.

The transfer window for Premier League clubs will re-open on Wednesday, June 14, remaining open until 23:00 BST on Friday, September 1.

A day after transfer business officially restarts, Premier League clubs will learn their fixture list for the season, with all games announced at 9:00am on Thursday, June 15.

Contracts effectively expire on Friday, June 30, allowing players to begin new deals on Saturday, July 1.

Pre-season

Members of the playing-squad not on international duty with their countries will be expected to return for pre-season training at the start of July, before the entire squad depart for a training camp from Friday, July 7.

It has not yet been confirmed where Cherries’ camp will be based.

During the World Cup break in November 2022, head coach Gary O’Neil took available players to Dubai, whereas last pre-season the squad prepared for their Premier League return in Portugal.

Just like last season, when their pre-season schedule ended in two friendlies at Vitality Stadium against Bristol City and Real Sociedad, Cherries are again expected to use their last two Saturdays before the start of the Premier League season to host friendly matches.

Competitive fixtures

Premier League football returns Saturday, August 12, with the final games scheduled for Sunday, May 19 2024.

After multiple seasons interrupted by COVID and last year’s campaign briefly paused for the World Cup, the mid-season break will again return, taking place between Saturday, January 13, and Saturday, January 20.

The Premier League has pledged that no two rounds of fixtures over the Christmas and New Year period can take place within 48 hours of each other.

International breaks

There will be four in-season international breaks next season. Shortly after the closure of the transfer window will come the first, with players called up by their countries away between Monday, September 4 and Tuesday, September 12.

There will be a further break between Monday, October 9 and Tuesday 17, with the final international break of 2023 coming in November, national fixtures set to be staged between Monday, November 13 and Tuesday 21.

Lastly, there will be an international break in March, between Monday 18 and Tuesday 26.

Cup fixtures

Dates have yet to be confirmed for the FA Cup, with this year’s edition still yet to be played. Cherries will enter the famous competition at the third round stage, traditionally staged in the first weeks of January.

Cherries enter the Carabao Cup at the second round stage, with no dates pencilled in at the time of writing. If they go all the way through the competition, the will visit Wembley to play the final on Sunday, February 25 2024.
