JAIDON Anthony shared how the Cherries dressing room were all behind Gary O’Neil’s decision to appoint Neto as captain, labelling the goalkeeper as a “big voice”.

The Brazilian goalkeeper donned the armband for the first time in Cherries’ defeat at Brighton at the start of February, with O’Neil confirming that Neto had replaced Lloyd Kelly as club captain in the build-up to the Newcastle game the following week.

Asked about the captaincy change, Anthony shared: “That's a decision that the manager has taken and we are all behind the decision.

“Obviously we have to get on a little bit at the end of the day.

“Lloyd's been an excellent captain for us for the past year and a half, and I think Neto is a big voice and a big character in the dressing room and I think he can hopefully help us and lead us to some success.”

Pressed for his thoughts, the winger replied: “To be honest, I don't really have an opinion on that in terms of what was needed.

“It's a leader, another leader.

“He won't be the only voice on the pitch and we’ve all got to chip in and do our part to try and stay up.”
