CHERRIES chief executive Neill Blake said the club’s new owner Bill Foley had stuck to his word of January investment, adding: “The squad is looking strong.”

Billionaire Foley’s Black Knight Football Club completed the takeover of Cherries from Maxim Demin in December.

The American businessman promised to spend in the upcoming transfer window in a bid to try and ensure Cherries are not relegated back into the Championship.

After a slow start to the window, Cherries added six new faces, committing to pay around £75million to bring in Dango Ouattara, Darren Randolph, Antoine Semenyo, Matias Vina, Illia Zabarnyi and Hamed Traore.

Speaking to Cherries’ website, Blake said: “After Bill Foley had completed his takeover of the club (in December), he said he would be investing in the squad and has certainly done so.”

Sassuolo midfielder Traore proved to be the final signing of the window.

Discussing the club’s latest recruit, Blake said: “Hamed is another exciting prospect and we are delighted to have secured his services.

“He is young, ambitious and one of the hottest talents from Serie A. He fits the profile of the type of player we are looking to recruit and will significantly add to our creative resources.

“Hamed’s arrival takes to six the number of new signings we have made this month and the squad is looking strong for the second half of the season.”
