CHERRIES have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo.

The club were reportedly keen to tie up a deal for the 23-year-old Italy international last week, only for him to opt against the move.

The wantaway forward, who scored the winning goal in last year’s Europa Conference League final, told Roma boss Jose Mourinho of his desire to exit the club in this transfer window.

It is thought he was keen to seal a switch to AC Milan, but they were unable to match Cherries’ 30million euro bid.

After Cherries could not convince Zaniolo to join last week, they moved on to other targets and have since agreed deals worth reportedly £45million combined for Hamed Traore and Ilya Zabarnyi, who are both set to complete their moves to Cherries today.

That is on top of the £9million arrival of Antoine Semenyo, while Dango Ouattara joined for around £20million earlier this month.

And Sky Sport Italy claim despite a change of heart from Zaniolo, Cherries quashed his chances of joining the club, due to already spending the funds elsewhere.

Fellow Premier League club Leeds United have been linked with a late move for the Massa-born ace before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
