JAIDON Anthony is impressed following new teammate Dango Ouattara’s debut, sharing: “I think he’ll be an exciting player for us.”

Burkinabè international Ouattara joined Cherries just days before his first Premier League appearance, arriving on the south coast on Thursday following his move from FC Lorient for a reported £20million.

The 20-year-old was chucked straight into the action with Cherries missing many key players, including attackers Marcus Tavernier and Dominic Solanke.

A livewire throughout, it appears the new signing is already forming an on-the-pitch connection with his winger on the opposite flank, Anthony.

Ouattara teed up Anthony for Cherries’ opener, the 23-year-old showing a nice touch before firing across Wayne Hennessey in the Forest goal to find the back of the net.

Discussing Cherries’ latest signing, Anthony told the Daily Echo: “He hasn't been in too long and he doesn't speak too much English yet.

“But he's an exciting player. I feel like good players, they find a way to connect with their teammates through their football.

“He's certainly one of them and I think he'll be an exciting player for us.”

Keen to drive forward and attempt to beat his man, Ouattara impressed the Vitality Stadium faithful with his attacking intent.

The Burkina Faso-born winger perhaps could have passed the ball in dangerous areas rather than opting to go for goal, one such occasion coming before Cherries’ goal.

Ouattara decided to try his luck from a tough angle, rather than cut the ball back to the awaiting Anthony.

However, with his new teammate frequently getting in behind the defence, Anthony knew it was only a matter of time until he would be slipped in for a chance on goal of his own.

“There was a chance, probably he didn't see I was looking at him. He had the sole focus of getting the shot off and it's unlucky.

“He got down that side quite a few times and luckily the next time he picked me out and I was able to put it away.

“Obviously we work hard on finishing and I like to score and create and I think it was a good finish, for sure.”

Despite an improved attacking performance, Cherries were unable to hold on to all three points, with Anthony’s fellow academy graduate, Sam Surridge, popping up late on to snatch an equaliser.

“I think it was a good all round performance”, restarted Anthony.

“I think everyone worked their socks off for the team today and it's a disappointing way to concede at the end.

“We gave everything. We wanted the three, but still a point on the board and that could be vital come the end of the season, I’m sure.”
