JEFFERSON Lerma is reportedly being tracked by La Liga outfit Villarreal with the Colombian approaching the final six months of his deal at the Vitality Stadium.

That is according to El Periódico Mediterráneo, a Spanish outlet, who claim that Villarreal boss Quique Setien is a fan.

The Spanish side would be able to discuss and potentially agree terms with Lerma from January 1 onwards thanks to the midfielder’s expiring deal, meaning Cherries may not recuperate any of the £28million club record fee they paid Levante for his services in 2018.

Although previous head coach Scott Parker stated back in August that Cherries and Lerma were “in talks” regarding a new deal, there has been no update on the situation since.

Lerma has played just shy of 100 games in Spain, featuring in La Liga 59 times.
