CHERRIES women edged past Selsey 1-0 at the weekend to send them second in the FA Women’s National League South West Division One.
Summer signing Jess Treweek’s goal was the only difference in a tight affair at Macra Community Stadium.
Boss Steve Cuss was pleased with both the result and the performance, telling afcb.co.uk: "It was a really good performance and I'd put it up there with one of our best performances of the season.
"I thought we defended strongly and I really enjoyed the way we passed the ball to get into the final third.
“We probably had a few more chances to score, we just needed to get that final ball right, but our overall play was very strong.
"It was good on the eye, a good all round performance and one that was backed up with some great defending and a clean sheet. It was a really important win for us."
"We said as a group that the next few league matches will be really important to keep pushing ourselves up that table and put a bit of pressure on the teams above us.
"It's an important run of games and we want to try to get a positive result in every single game."
