DOMINIC Solanke labelled as a “big addition” Cherries’ summer recruit Marcus Tavernier.

Versatile Tavernier arrived on the south coast from Middlesbrough in August, for a reported £12million.

The 23-year-old made an instant impact, ousting Jaidon Anthony from the starting XI and impressing wherever he is selected to feature, starting all 15 Premier League games so far, in his first year at this level.

His lively presence has been key in bringing Cherries out of defence and up the pitch, although he was criticised in some quarters for his lack of end product during his early weeks at the club.

All that is in the past now though, with Tavernier registering two goals and four assists in his past three appearances.

Discussing the impact of the Leeds-born talent, Cherries striker Solanke told the Daily Echo: “He’s been a big addition to the team this season.

“He’s been present throughout the whole season and done really well.

“And in the last few games, he’s managed to get quite a few assists and goals, so we’re happy for him.”

Tavernier and the rest of Cherries’ squad, apart from Chris Mepham and Kieffer Moore who are competing at the World Cup, are taking a breather.

They return to competitive action on December 21, away at Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.
