CHERRIES forward Kieffer Moore was in the goals for Wales last night – but his second-half strike was not enough for Cymru to stage a comeback away in Belgium.

Moore played 64 minutes of the Nations League A4 clash with Belgium, seemingly putting his side back into the game shortly after the break with his header at the back post.

The Belgians took a 2-0 lead into the break courtesy of Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne and former Chelsea man Michy Batshuayi, and although they were involved in the contest throughout, they were unable to build on Moore’s strike, eventually losing 2-1.

Reflecting on the result immediately after, the 30-year-old told S4C: “I mean it was always going to be a tough game.

“To come away with nothing is a bitter pill, I suppose it is another lesson learnt for us and we move on to Sunday now.

“We were always going to come out after going 2-0 down at half-time.

“We wanted to put ourselves on the front foot. Brennan (Johnson) has made a great run, and I always need to put myself in the box and cause havoc, and I got the goal but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.

“As soon as I know he’s on the ball and running at people, I just need to get myself in the right position eventually for the ball to come in. He’s a joy to play with.”

Cymru now know victory is required on Sunday to stave off relegation from the Nations League top-flight.

Wales will be without Cherries’ Chris Mepham, after he picked up a yellow card during the Belgium defeat, meaning he is suspended for the clash.

Previewing the Poland game, Moore added: “We’ll have a great crowd there, it’ll be our last game before we go to the World Cup.

“So it’ll be all guns ready for Sunday.”
