SCOTT Parker said there were “millions of reasons” why Cherries had not been able to add more quality to their squad this summer.

The head coach was speaking after Saturday’s 9-0 hammering at the hands of Liverpool – where he admitted his players needed help and were “struggling for air”.

Cherries added the likes of Joe Rothwell and Ryan Fredericks on free transfers earlier this summer, but neither have been able to feature competitively due to injuries.

Goalkeeper Neto arrived but has been backup to Mark Travers in the top flight, while Marcus Tavernier and Marcos Senesi have both featured in Cherries’ league campaign.

Asked whether the club would be able to bring in any more quality before Thursday night’s transfer deadline, Parker replied: “I don’t know. We've been trying to do that.

“There are millions of reasons why and there's loads of circumstances why. This is not just as straightforward as not being able to sign players because players don't want to come or whatever.

“There's a lot of issues here for the reasons why we've not been able to do that and it just depends whether those issues resolve, or we make a decision.

“That's it, really.”

Cherries are set to host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Vitality Stadium on Wednesday (7.30pm).
