MAGPIES boss James Stokoe was pleased with the “manner” of Wimborne Town’s 3-1 victory over Cinderford at the weekend, with his charges responding strongly to an early setback.

The away side took a fourth minute lead when goalkeeper Tom Parker-Trott punched a corner into his own net, but the former Cherries youngster’s error was quickly rectified by his teammates.

Four minutes later Dan Bartlett responded with a low-drive from outside the area to restore parity, before Magpies took the lead on 13 minutes via Louis Kellaway.

Bartlett turned provider for the second, his cross finding the head of Kellaway at a corner.

Wimborne made sure of the result 10 minutes before the break, when Luke Burbidge marked his return to the club with a close range header.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Stokoe shared: “Obviously we didn’t want to concede any, particularly as early as we did, it was good for the lads to come back from that.

“What they did, two quick goals afterwards, and then to see out the game in relative comfort, it was a nice feeling to get a win.

“To do it coming from behind as well, was nice, but it was the manner of the victory that was the most pleasing thing.”
