CHERRIES have made Argentina international Marcos Senesi their fifth signing of the summer.

The centre-back has penned a four-year contract at Cherries, arriving from Dutch side Feyenoord.

Whilst the official transfer fee is undisclosed, it is widely reported Cherries have splashed out around 15million euros for the talented defender.

Cherries chief executive Neill Blake said of Senesi: “This is a huge signing for us and Marcos brings significant pedigree to our squad.

"There was, inevitably, a lot of interest in him so for him to choose to come here is a clear sign of our appeal as a football club.

"Bringing in a current Argentina international with experience in European competitions is another indication of the club’s ambition and we are all looking forward to seeing Marcos in an AFC Bournemouth shirt.”

The 25-year-old made his debut for the Argentina national team earlier this summer, featuring in a 5-0 friendly win over Estonia, in which superstar Lionel Messi scored all five goals.

Senesi came through the youth ranks at Argentinean outfit San Lorenzo, progressing into their first team, before switching to the Eredivisie in 2019.

Since, he made 116 appearances for Feyenoord, including playing in every round of the club's run to the Europa Conference League final last season.

Senesi played the full 90 minutes in all seven knockout ties, with the final ultimately ending in disappointment, losing 1-0 to Roma in Albania.

A fellow member of the Feyenoord back-line last season, Tyrell Malacia, has this summer joined Manchester United.

Arne Slot's men finished third in the Dutch top flight last season, behind only Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.

Senesi could make his Cherries debut away at champions Manchester City on Saturday.

He is the fifth player to sign for the club following promotion to the Premier League, with Joe Rothwell, Ryan Fredericks, Marcus Tavernier and Neto also joining Scott Parker's squad.
