BOSS Scott Parker believes Cherries have shown they are heading in the “right direction” by extending the contracts of Mark Travers and Dominic Solanke.

Irish international Travers agreed a five-year deal at the start of the summer, whilst Solanke then tied down until the end of the 2025-26 campaign with a new deal this week.

Both starred at either end of the pitch, with Solanke notching 30 goals, whilst Travers recorded the most clean sheets in the Championship last term.

Reflecting on tying down two of his young stars, Parker enthused: “Dom, obviously great news from us really, that we've managed to nail Dom down for a longer term contract.

“I think both of them players, Mark Travers is one whose first full season last year in goal, and had an incredible season really.

“So a young player, along with Dom - probably last year was his first real season where he was prolific in the sense of 30 odd goals or whatever he got.

“And to nail down both of these players on longer term contract is ambitious from the club.

“Definitely shows the right direction of which we want to go to really.

“So I'm pleased we've managed to secure both of them players, hopefully maybe more as well, just to keep the team and the progression of the team going in the right direction really.”
