PIRATES boss Neil Middleditch was left shocked by the electric gating of Chris Harris and joked: “I don’t think he has made six starts in his career!”
Harris played a starring role at number one for visitors Berwick, with a paid maximum from six rides during Poole’s 49-41 SGB Championship win at Wimborne Road.
And despite Harris coming out on the losing side, victorious team manager Middleditch offered his respect for the British star.
He said: “It’s nice to get the win. When you have Bomber in the opposite team you are going to have your work cut out.
“I think he made six starts. I don’t think he has made six starts in his career!
“He was just flying wasn’t he. Such a tough nut to crack and a great racer – hard as you like, fair as you like and it was really good to get back for the win.
“Everybody dug deep. It was very close to be fair – 14 was a crucial heat and, luckily, we got through it.”
The meeting ended a run of three fixtures without a win for Pirates, having lost against Leicester and Scunthorpe before last week’s draw against Plymouth.
