POOLE Pirates have slipped to fourth position in the updated SGB Championship table.

Following the sudden withdrawal of Newcastle Diamonds from the league last week, all of their results from the 2022 campaign have now been expunged.

Many clubs had enjoyed success against the struggling north east outfit this campaign. Newcastle sat bottom of the pile with just three points from their nine meetings, before pulling out of the competition.

With all nine of those results now wiped from the records, Pirates have seen three points come off their overall tally, having beaten Diamonds 58-32 at Wimborne Road in May.

That leaves them on 25 points from 12 meetings, and sees them slip below Plymouth Gladiators in the standings.

Garry May's side were due to host Newcastle last week, but with that meeting not going ahead, it meant Plymouth saw their tally stay as it was, given they were yet to face Diamonds home or away in 2022.

They now sit third, also with 25 points from 12 meetings. Second-placed Glasgow Tigers have seen six points wiped off their tally, having beaten Newcastle twice. They sit second with 27 points, also with six meetings remaining.

Leicester Lions have also taken a big hit, losing seven points from their two victories, leaving them on 37 from 15 meetings.

Redcar Bears remain fifth, despite losing four points from their score.

Berwick Bandits, who visit Wimborne Road tomorrow (7.30pm), have dropped to the foot of the table, losing four points from their tally.

The top six clubs will enter the end-of-season play-offs.
