CHERRIES playmaker David Brooks was back involved with the first-team squad after they returned for pre-season testing on Saturday.

The Warrington-born star was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin lymphoma in back in October.

But the 24-year-old announced last month that he had completed his treatment and was now cancer free.

Brooks was present to see Cherries seal promotion to the Premier League in a 1-0 home victory over Nottingham Forest at the start of May.

He was then in attendance for Wales’s World Cup play-off victory over Ukraine earlier this month and said: “I feel all right. Day-to-day-wise it’s getting back to normality, I think.”

And in footage released by Cherries on Saturday, Brooks could be seen in the gym taking part in the club’s testing process in a group alongside the likes of Jefferson Lerma, Ben Pearson and Lewis Cook.

Cherries’ first Premier League game of 2022-23 comes at home against Aston Villa on Saturday, August 6.
