DORSET star David Payne opened his wicket-taking account in the One Day International arena, as he made his debut for England against the Netherlands on Wednesday.
Selected for the final game of the three-match series in Amstelveen, Payne deceived Netherlands batter Scott Edwards with a slower ball in the 49th over of the hosts’ innings.
Edwards, who made 64 from 72 balls, chipped Payne’s delivery to Jason Roy who took a comfortable catch.
Watched on by his wife and daughter, former Parley paceman Payne recorded figures of one for 38 from his nine overs having opened the bowling.
Netherlands were bowled out for 244 batting first, with England comfortably reaching their required target for the loss of just two wickets.
Roy made 101 not out for the visitors, with Jos Buttler finishing unbeaten on 86.
