LOUIS Kellaway has become the latest Magpie to confirm his stay at Wimborne town.

Midfielder Kellaway joins Dan Bartlett, Connal Morrison, Ben Scorey and Harry Morgan in returning for the 2022/23 campaign.

Magpies have also announced the signing of the experienced Ashley Wells from Dorchester Town.

Since making his debut for Wimborne back in January 2015, Kellaway has made 182 appearances for the Magpies.

Apart from a brief sojourn with Shaftesbury, the 25-year-old has played his entire senior career for Wimborne.

Speaking about confirming the capture of the homegrown talent, manager James Stokoe told the club website: “I’m really pleased Louis is staying for another season.

“He is one of our own as the fans say, and he will become the next Mr. Wimborne.

“He’s already got so many appearances for this club at this level, and his experience and energy in central-midfield will be invaluable to us next season.

“He’s a great lad to have around and he’s really starting to turn into a leader in the changing room.”

Kellaway then revealed it was a straight forward decision to stay at the Dorset club, with the midfielder stating: “It was an easy and quick conversation to have with Stokes (James Stokoe) for me to stay next year.

“I’ve been at this club for a while now in a couple of spells, and experienced the highs of getting promoted out of this league, so hope next year we can replicate that and get us straight back into the league we belong.

“Last year was a definite low point, I only joined halfway through the season and we had lots of players coming and going, but feel with a good pre-season behind us and getting a good squad together there is no reason why we shouldn’t be battling it out at the top of the table next year.”

Kellaway made 22 appearances after re-joining the New Cuthbury outfit from Shaftesbury mid-way through the campaign.
