DANNY Ford is confident Poole Pirates can be the first team to inflict a home defeat of 2022 on Redcar Bears when they head north tonight (7.30pm).

Redcar are one of a number of clubs in the Championship yet to taste defeat on home shale this term.

Pirates are among that list, following Wednesday night's comfortable 58-32 triumph over struggling Newcastle Diamonds.

Redcar, who finished fourth last season, also looked strong at ECCO Arena in 2021, with their results including a 48-42 defeat of Poole.

Strong showings that day from Steve Worrall (13) and Danny King (10) did at least earn the visitors a losing bonus point from the fixture.

Looking ahead to the trip to Redcar, promoter Ford told the Daily Echo: "We want to win every meeting. I feel confident enough in this team that even when we go to some of our biggest rivals at their tracks, we want to win there.

"Obviously you can’t win every meeting, we are aware of that, but I think we should be fighting for points at every meeting.

"So Redcar is going to be no different. We’re going to go in there with the mindset that we’re coming away with the full load of points.

"Our boys ride that track well. We picked up a point there last year, so we’re looking for a similar performance this year."
